What is Reforged?

Reforged is a non-profit 501(c)(3) peer-to-peer support program that offers a variety of activities to help Veterans and First Responders connect with like-minded people and resources in their community. 

When was Reforged founded and by who?

Reforged was founded in 2018 by Chad and Marilyn Caylor, and Jason Brooks. 

Who does Reforged serve?

Reforged serves all Veterans and First Responders. 

What is PTSD?

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a life-altering condition that requires support and doesn't have to be faced alone.

What is The Huddle?

The Huddle is a non-traditional group where Veterans and First Responders sit and talk about what is on their minds and allows Alumni to come back for support during classes. 

What is an Alumni?

An Alumni is anyone who has come through a Reforged class. 

Do I have to have PTSD to attend Reforged?

No, Reforged is open to all Veterans and First Responders. 

What is the Reforged Family?

The Reforged Family is comprised of all Alumni who have come through our classes and their family members. 

What is a class?

A class is a three day course of blacksmithing held Friday through Sunday of the given dates starting at 8:30 a.m.

What is a civilian?

A civilian is anyone who has not served as a First Responder or in the military. 

What is a Veteran?

A Veteran is anyone that has served in the military. 

How is Reforged funded?

Reforged is funded by the generosity of people like you. Click here to find out more. 

Where do proceeds go?

100% of all proceeds go to funding all aspects of the Reforged program. Our volunteers are unpaid to ensure the program has enough funding to buy supplies for our equipment. We regularly need propane, grinding belts, tape, epoxy, 550 cord, dish soap, leather, kydex, and many other consumables to ensure our program is able to run and provide a class that meets our standards.

Where does Reforged get materials?

Reforged mainly utilizes donated and recycled materials for classes. Other supplies are bought from blacksmithing supply stores. Many supplies are donated by generous people and proprietors

What accommodations are available if I'm not from San Antonio, TX?

Reforged Alumni can provide accommodation for visitors from out of town. Contact (210)417-8111 or reforgedadmin@reforged.org to arrange for your stay. 

Where do I sign up for a class?

Do you have a waitlist?

We do not offer a waitlist.

Where and when are classes held?

Classes are held at 109 W Grayson St., San Antonio, TX, 78212 roughly once a month on designated dates. All classes are three days long, running from Friday 8:30 a.m. to Sunday when the knife is done. 

How do I cancel taking a class if I do not want to attend anymore?

If I have a disability and think the physical part of the class will be challenging, what should I do?

Our instructors will support students every step of the way. We do our best to promote autonomy in the forging process, but always have people available to help with any challenges that occur. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns about how we can meet your unique needs.
